Metals— Aluminum, Crane Control
Reynolds Aluminum is sending transducer output from crane cab to ground using Data-Linc DOVE with A-A1000 4-20 mA transmitter and receiver modules to transmit data over crane cab telephone lines. (Please note that the DDAA has replaced the A-A1000.)
Mining/Quarrying— Limestone
To transfer data between central control facility and outlying buildings, Michigan Limestone is using DOVE modems on their PBX telephone system eliminating the need to run dedicated data wires.
Oil and Gas/Petrochemical— Flow Meter
Shell transmits pulse flow meter data from shore to totalizer on loading dock using DOVE/MDL Monitoring Data Link on existing telephone cable spare pair, solving wire degradation signal attenuation problem.
Oil and Gas/Petrochemical— Heat Trace System
Shell communicates polled data from heat trace system using DOVE/MDL Monitoring Data Link operating half duplex on telephone cable spare pair, avoiding compromised data due to ground loop problems.
Oil and Gas/Petrochemical— Well Heads
Full duplex 9600 baud data communications between Modicon Compact 984 PLCs at several well heads and the control trailer using Data-Linc MDL500, DOVE (Data Over Voice Encoder) and LCM100 Power Line Modems with PLI500 Power Line Isolators to transmit data over existing spare pair and superimposed on in-place 480 VAC wiring. The multi-drop connection between DOVEs and LCMs utilizes Data-Linc's AE-485 Auto Enable technology (compatible with RS485) to allow half duplex operation without the need for enable lines or signals.
