Tank Farm— Pump Control

Shealy Automation saved a tank farm customer thousands of dollars by recommending and installing Data-Linc PLR580 Spread Spectrum Frequency Hopping Wireless I/O modules.

Problem: You need to get (3) 4-20 ma signal and (4) digital inputs from a tank farm to your control room PLC, so you can read the level of your tanks, you also need to send (3) analog and (4) digital output signals back to the tank farm to control tank levels. The distance is 4000 feet from the control room to the pumping station and to make matters worse 10 years ago you added a new facility that was constructed between the tank farm and the control room. You will have to trench thru the concrete parking lot and run cable tray or two underground conduit runs to the tank farm, because you do not want mix the analog and 120Volt signals in one conduit. You have an estimated price costing from $13,000.00 to $15,000.00 for material and labor.

Solution: Data-Linc Group and Shealy Electrical provided a solution that saved thousands of dollars and many man hours by recommending Spread Spectrum Frequency Hopping Wireless I/O. The Plant Linc PLR580 wireless I/O extender solution consists of a Master station and a Remote station with (8) Digital Inputs/ (8) Outputs and (8) Analog Inputs/ (8) Analog Outputs. The radios can transmit up to (4) miles line-of-sight and saved time and money over the option of conduit or cable tray.
